Weekly Review 05/02
Royal Mail remains the most dominant courier in the UK market according to a new study by Pitney Bowes, despite a 13% fall in market share value. Amazon Logistics are biting at the postal service’s tail, as they improve from the fourth-largest to the second-largest courier in the UK with a market share of 15%.
In more Royal Mail news, union members have voted on the future direction of the service. The debate focused on such issues as employee pay, job security and upcoming amendments to the service. Proposed reform includes new parcel hubs and the introduction of dedicated van delivery duties for parcels, as well as exploring the opportunity for more frequent deliveries throughout the week. These changes will act overwhelming in favour of eCommerce merchants who rely on the service.
Amazon has announced changes to it’s Payments Service Provider (PSP) program, which specifically targets clients who are currently using PSP not included in the programme. Our partner, Payoneer, an easy-to-use global payment service, has been announced as one of very few preferred payment providers by Amazon. Their PSP list is frequently updated so we’ll let you know of any changes as they happen.
A quick nod also to Retail Week and their excellent Accelerating Ecommerce Week that starts this coming Monday. You’ll see a familiar face and hear a familiar voice as our CEO & Founder Martin will be on a panel of experts along with our friends at Flare Audio talking about balancing final mile profitability and productivity. You can still register for the event here.
