Celebrating Women in Engineering

It’s International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), a day where we celebrate female engineers and their incredible skills. At Huboo we’re blessed with super talented female engineers, two outstanding examples being Mihaela and Elamathi. Here’s a bit about them and what they do.

Meet Mihaela

Name: Mihaela Ciuca
Role/Department: Software QA Lead, Software /QA engineers

Why did you choose a career in engineering?

I am passionate about technology. I like to question, discover, and improve, the quality of a software. I love challenges and I get that a lot as a QA.

What does your job involve?

Bring quality to all the phases of the software development lifecycle. A quality assurance ensures that the final product observes the company’s quality standards.

What is the most exciting thing about your job?

The most exciting thing is, to find a solution for a difficult enough problem. I love challenges and knowing that my work has made a real difference in the project gives me a lot of satisfaction. I have also learnt so much and know I will keep learning, as all the variety in my work means there is always new things to learn.

What inspires you about engineering?

I suppose we are all inspired by mega-projects and stunning technical achievements. But really, 99% of engineering is detail work. And most projects, especially the mega-projects and stunning technical achievements, are so big and take so long that you, the individual engineer, only get ownership of a very small slice.

What would you say to girls in school/college who may be considering engineering as a career or study option?

One of the coolest things about a software testing career is that it is just as technical as it is creative. You have to stretch your mind to understand a product’s functionality and general behaviour, to improve analysis power, to learn new tools and to implement the learning in real life. Engineering is a good career choice with the perspective of higher-than-average income, responsibility, and the possibility to assert some authority or power.

Meet Elamathi

Name: Elamathi Pandian
Role/Department: QA Engineer, Engineering

Why did you choose a career in engineering?

I’ve got graduated in engineering so I became a QA Engineer

What does your job involve?

To ensure the quality of the product we deliver, which will make the client happy about that great standard.

What is the most exciting thing about your job?

Working towards good standard always, and to see that applications are running automatically after scripted.

What inspires you about engineering?

Engineering is the tool to make life simpler with new useful applications, technologies, solutions which saves lots of time of real users that inspires me. Just Imagine a town without a car, a car is all out of invention and Engineering.

What would you say to girls in school/college who may be considering engineering as a career or study option?

I would suggest them Engineering as we have more hidden, exciting things to invent irrespective of gender.
