by Emma Burgess

It’s National Intern Day, so we’d like to say a massive thank you to our amazing Interns, old and new, here at Huboo. Here are some success stories of existing and previous interns who have gone on to do incredible things within the business!

Agostino

Agostino is a Country Implementation Manager working in the European start-up team in Eindhoven. He joined Huboo over 3 months ago.

Why did you choose to intern with Huboo?
I was looking for an opportunity to gain experience in a British company and improve my English at the same time and Huboo was the perfect fit for me.

What are your main day to day responsibilities?
I manage the NL team, ensure good communication between the UK and NL, manage the operations in NL, speak with clients interested in coming to NL as well as managing day to day activities in the NL office.

What’s your greatest accomplishment?
Being able to survive the Dutch food and weather

What’s the most useless talent that you have?
I can eat like 2kg of food in a meal, but sadly I have never gotten any recognition for this ability

Alejandro

Alejandro is a Country Implementation Manager like Agostino and first started working in the European start-up team in Eindhoven. He is now helping with our expansion into Madrid and is currently based there.

Why did you choose to intern with Huboo?
I was interested in doing my internship in a company outside of Spain where I could gain international experience and improve my level of English. Once I had the opportunity to do an interview with Huboo and I did some research about the company, the services it offered, its rapid growth in a period of 2 years, the ambition, the desire to innovate and create value caught my attention. All these things, added to my interest in the e-commerce field, led me to recognize Huboo as a perfect place to do my internship.

What are your main day to day responsibilities?
I am the representative of Huboo in Spain, and as part of my responsibilities, I deal with suppliers, partners, consultants, real estate agencies, lawyers, and potential clients in order to set up the new branch of the company in Madrid.

What’s your greatest accomplishment?
Probably my biggest achievement has been being part of the European expansion team of Huboo in The Netherlands.

What’s the most useless talent that you have?
I know a lot of useless data

Eliz

Country Implementation Manager Eliz is part of the European start-up team in Eindhoven. She’s been with us for just under 4 months.

Why did you choose to intern with Huboo?

When I first heard about Huboo I was intrigued as I didn’t know what Fulfilment was and had never heard of this word during my studies in France before. After researching the company, its ethos, and the level of expansion that it had in a short period of time I was interested in applying for a role there. The fact that it was located in a beautiful part of the UK was also a plus. Luck would have it there was a position for a French-speaking intern role, so I jumped at the chance to apply and here I am now!

What are your main day to day responsibilities?
It has changed from the initial phases of the implementation of Huboo here in the Netherlands and now. At the beginning, I was involved in a number of roles including contact with various companies, recruitment, purchasing, meetings with couriers, and initial training of staff, etc… Now, however, my main responsibility is mostly the overall management of the employees, but I’ve also been doing a lot of recruitment + training lately. There was lots to do here in the Netherlands so naturally, my colleagues and I had to divide tasks. ‘Divide and conquer’ as Gareth says!

What’s your greatest accomplishment?
Professionally, my biggest accomplishment is definitely going from intern to Country Implementation Manager in the span of 6 months. Personally, it is probably living in and having the opportunity to travel in multiple European countries since a young age.

What’s the most useless talent that you have?
I have a good sense of direction in forests and in the countryside, but terrible in the city – growing up in the countryside must have something to do with this!

Isabelle

Isabelle is our newest Intern and has been part of the Hubooo family for a month. She is a Data Scientist based in our Corn Street offices.

Why did you choose to intern with Huboo?
I was looking for a fun and unique placement experience where I could truly learn a lot; I thought Huboo could provide that. The recruiter really sold the experience to me by telling me about the great office atmosphere and opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects.

What are your main day to day responsibilities?
Automating data integrity, data normalisation and analytics using Machine Learning(ML) techniques, such as Natural Language Processing(NLP) for product categorisation, unsupervised clustering for client profiling, etc.

…Real hardcore and complicated stuff!

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Training myself to run 7k during lockdown as I’ve never been a long-distance runner and the experience was mentally gruelling, but I am very proud of myself for persevering. The experience was not made easy by the rain regularly making the grass wet and muddy.

What’s the most useless talent that you have?
I can lean back matrix-style until I am only a few centimetres off the ground which makes me good at limbo, but unfortunately, there aren’t many opportunities to play limbo.

Nasra

Nasra is an Insight Market and Research Intern based in Eindhoven. She has played a key role in the European start-up team and has recently been taken on as a Country Implementation Manager.

Why did you choose to intern with Huboo?
The internship with Huboo helped me to gain a better understanding and exposure to real-world experience. This internship offered me a peak into the environment I want to work in.

What are your main day to day responsibilities?
What I really enjoy is that every day is different. Every day I learn something new. My main responsibility is setting up the new branch in NL. Daily I manage Huboo NL, deal with clients, consultants, and suppliers.

What’s your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is identifying the building in which Huboo NL now takes place.

What’s the most useless talent that you have?
I am really good at shopping; I can find anything for a bargain…
